Believe in Jesus
If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shall believe in your heart that God raised him
(Jesus) from the dead, thou shall be saved (Romans 10:9)
When someone prays and confesses to God it should
only be done through Jesus. “For there is one God, and
one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” (1
Timothy 2:5) The only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ.
Jesus said unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the
life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
Neither is there salvation in any other: “for there is
none other
name (Jesus) under heaven given among men, whereby we
must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
You must repent and die to sin
When you confess Jesus you must repent of your sins. To repent is to be willing
to turn completely away from your sins. You must believe that Jesus
will give you the grace to turn from sin and stop living in a
lifestyle
of sin
(practicing sin). It
does not mean that you will not be tempted or that it will be easy. But Jesus
sent the
Holy
Spirit (John
14:26) which will give you the strength to resist temptations.
"Submit
yourselves therefore unto God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw
nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you.“ (James 4:7-8) "...greater is he (God)
that is in you, than he (the devil) that is in the world.“ (1 John 4:4) However,
no matter how strong the Christian, you may sometimes fall into temptation
and sin. This happens because it is man's nature, "But every man is tempted,
when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.“ (James 1:14)
Whenever you
fall into sin remember, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive
us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.“ (1 John 1:9) When someone
trusts in Christ as their Saviour and follows Him as Lord, they will no longer
be a slave to their sin. Sin will no longer be their "master," but fighting the
sin is not a passive act. It takes godly discipline (through reading the Bible,
prayer, and Christian fellowship), and the yielding of that person to the work
of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
How do I know if I'm Saved?
"Jesus answered and said unto him, 'Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a
man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." (John 3:3) You are born
again when you have honestly in your heart, through prayer, accepted Jesus Christ
as your Lord and Saviour.
If you believe in your heart the things that have been presented here, then
pray this prayer.
